George: Betts this day brought his servant boy (viz) Samuel: Bryce, before the Justices in Court Sitting to have his age adjudged the Said Samuel: Came into this Country in the vessel calld the May floor. Mary Cullen this day brought her Daughter Mary before the Justices in Court Sitting, desireing she might be bound over to Thomas: Tull which the Court Orders & Confirms to sd Tull. he ye sd Tull assumeing to give the sd Mary a two year old Heifer when she attains to ten years of age as also to learn her to Read in ye bible Spining &ca.

This day the Sheriff made Return of his pannel of the Jury of enquiry for Orphants & Apprentices,as followeth (viz) Capt Wm: Piper ffra: Roberts. Nic. Evins. John:White. Sam: Marchment. Hen: Ackworth Junior.John Roach. Junior Wm.Coulbourne Currier. James: Givan. Robert. Downs. Hen: Leake. John:Swain Wm:Wouldhave. John: Patrick. Tho: Gillett. Thomas Smith. Wm: Keens Senr. Robt.Tyra. Marsey: ffountain. who being duely returned & Sworn upon ye holy Evangelists, receive their Charge & are Sent forth — And being this day returned do prsent this following (viz) The Jurors for Orphants doe prsent John: Scholfield of this County for keeping of Robt. Houston Orphant of Robert Houlston out of his just due & makeing Waste of what the Said Orphant his father left him. Wm: Piper

Jane Carr late of the said County Spinster for that ye Said Jane not having ye fear of God ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ before her eyes but moved by ye instigation of ye devil hath Comitted fornication & on her body born a Bastard Child, to the dishonour of God, & Contrary to the good laws of this Province in this Case made and provided. = = Dent Clk presentmts. The Indictment being read, to which ye sd Jane Carr pleaded guilty. denying to tell the father of her late Bastard Child. Therefore the Court Ordered the sd Jane thirty lashes on her bare back well laid on the Coppy of which Order was delivered to ye Sher. who Executed the Same. // Ordered. also by the Court that the Said Jane give Security for her good behaviour & fees.
