~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~           his Attorney Complains that whereas the Said John:Clerk the 18th day of Septembr

                                           in the year of or Lord 1688 at Pocomoke within the Jurisdiction of this Court was

was indebted to the Said John:Cole in the Sum of four hundred & twenty five pounds of tobacco being for two Notes

Inscribed with the propper hand of him the Said John. Clerk & here in Court produced And the sd John: Clerk

to the sd John: Cole, in manner aforesd being indebted, did assume upon himSelf ,& to the sd John: Cole then and

there faithfully promise, that he the Said John: Clerk the Said Sum of 425: Pounds of tobacco when he Should

be requested, would well & truly Content & pay Neverthelesse the Sd John: Clerk ye sd Sum of 425 Pounds of tobacco

to the Sd John: Cole, though often requested hath not paid, but hath hitherto refused, and doth Still refuse to the

damage of the Said John Cole of 900 Pounds of tobacco. And thereof he brings this Sute &ca.
