Sterling the Same did felloniously thieve Steal & Carry away Contrary to ye Peace &ca.

     The Grand Jury having had 4 Evidences Sworn & Sent up - - - - -

    made Returne of the foresd Bill. Billa Vera: Jno:ffranklin foreman

  The Indictment being read to which the foresd Margarett pleaded not guilty, & desired to be tryed by ye Country

Whereupon Comand was given to ye Sheriff to bring here twelve good & lawfull men of his Balywick that ye matter

in hand might be the better understood. A List or pannel whereof returned as followeth (viz) Rich Chambers

Wm: Planner Senior. Jno. Mcknitt Robert Smith. Wm: Law Wm: Alexander Junr. Wm. Curre ffrancis: Joyce

Richard: Holland. Wm: Lawrence. Jno.Mcbride Stephen: Costine. 12) who being legally sumoned returned

and Sworn upon ye holy Evangelists, having heard the four Evidence upon their Oaths Examined, received

their Charge & are Sent forth to determine ye Same: - - - - _______ - - - - ____________

              And this day (viz) the 11th: of August aforesd the Jurors of that Jury returned to the barr in Court

           each man being prticularly Calld by his name, & being demanded are all unanimously agreed of their

           verdict, which is read in these words following: (viz) The Jury finds Margarett Drue guilty - - -

                                                                                                                          Richard: Chambers foreman

            The Jurors values the aforesd Ring at One hundred pounds of tobacco.

            Ordered Capt. Henry Smith pay all fees accrued upon Margaret Drues accot in Court. - - - - - -

George: Latcham Dft.               was Sumoned to answer unto George Esqr. & Eliz. his Wife Extrix of ye Last

~ ~ ~ ~ ~                               Will & Testament of Coll. Wm:Stevens deceased of a Plea yt he render

                                                      unto them ye full & just Sum of three hundred eighty & one pounds of good Sound

Of good Sound mertable leaf tobacco & Caske which from them he deteineth &ca. - - - - - - - - - - -

And whereupon ye sd George Layfield & Eliz: by Peter Dent their Attorney Saith that whereas the George Latcham

the 28th day of ffebry in the year of our Lord 1686. at Pocomoke within the Jurisdiction of this Court by his

Certain Bill obligatory which the sd George & Eliz: with the Seal of the said George Latcham Signed bringeth

here into Court the date whereof is the day & year aforesd acknowledged himself to owe & Stand indebted to ye

Said Coll. Wm: Stevens in his lifetime the said full & just Sum of three hundred eighty & one pounds of tobacco

to be paid to the Said Coll. Wm:Stevens his Heirs Extors Adms or Assigns Convenient at Some place in Pocomoke

in Somerset County at or upon ye 10th.day of March next ensueing the date of the sd Bill, to the which payment ye said

Said George: Latcham bound himself firmly by the said Bill, nevertheless the sd George Latcham although often required

the Same to ye sd Coll.Wm. Stevens in his lifetime nor to the sd Elizabeth after ye death of the sd Wm.while she was Sole &

unmarried nor to the sd George Layfield & Eliz. Since the marriage between them had & Solemnized nor to any of them ye sd

381 pounds of tob. hath not rendered but hath hitherto denyed & doth still deny & ye Same from them unjustly deteins to ye

damage of the sd George Layfield & Eliz.of 800 pounds of tobacco & thereof they bring their Sute &ca. & they bring here into Court

ye letters Testamentary of ye sd Coll.Wm:Stevens whereby it appears to ye Court here ye sd Eliz to Extrix of ye testmt afsd & thereof to

have Admrn Dent pr Quer. Pleg &ca.                                 Jno:Doe
