him to the Indian Towne, with an intent to keep & Secure him for ye Owner of him. After Some time he Confessed yt he belonged

to yw, which made me Seek all opportunity to Send yw word, but before it prsented he made his excape when I was gone to Snow

hill to hear a Sermon I suppose he is at ye Indian Towne where if Search be made I Suppose he may be found I acquainted

mr Hopkins with it who told me that if the Indian did belong to y w we shall not long be without a hue & Cry after him

            Contra }                 George Wilson of this County & Jane his Wife was attached to answer unto Jno. Kirke

George:Wilson et uxor Dft     in a plea yt they render unto the sd Jno Kirke thirteen Bushells of Salt which they owe

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~         him and unjustly deteins. // And whereupon the said John by Samll Alexander

                                           his Attorney Comes & sayes that the said dfts justly Stands indebted unto the plt

                                           in the just & full quantity of thirteen bushels of Salt as doth and may appear by a

By a Certaine Instrument under the hand of the Said Jane and bearing date ye fourth of June ano Dom: 1689

and is here in Court produced whereby the Said Jane in the time of her being Sole, did oblige herself to pay unto the

Said John or his Order the said thirteen bushels of Salt when it Should be demanded, but She the Said Jane in the time

of her being Sole, nor the said George her husband Since their being married, not regarding but fraudulently intending

the plt to deceive, the sd Salt to the Said John hath not paid, although often thereunto required, but hath hitherto refused

and yett doth refuse payment to ye losse & damage of the plt to ye value of 2000 pounds of tobacco and thereof brings
