Their Children, Servants, & Slaves or others undr their Charge & tuition So to doe on ye respective
Dayes aforesd to be kept & Solemnized within their Respective Counties & places aforesd or they
will answer ye Contrary at their prill & one pains of being Serverely proceeded agt for their
Contempt & to ye End ye Same may be ye Better published & made known & yt none may plead
or pretend Ignorance herein I Doe in their maties name Straitly Charge & Comand all &
Singular ye Respective Sheriffs of this Province forthwith upon Receipt hereof, to make
Publick Proclamation hereof in ye most Publicgh & Convenient Places within their respective
Countyes ~ ~ ~ ~  Given at ye Citty of St Maryes undr ye great Seale of ye Sd Province of
Maryland ye Sixth Day of 8ber in ye 4th year of their maties Reign &ca Ano Dom 1692

Gentlemen                                                        St. Maryes 8ber ye 12th 1692
Their maties having been gratiously pleased by their letters Pattents Dated September ye fifth 169-
to grant unto me ye office & Employmt of their Secretary of Maryland with power to nominate
& appoint Clerks respectively to ye Severall County Crts of this Province, and foreasmuch
as I am yett a Stranger both to ye prsons & Qualifycations of such as are fittest to Serve
in that Capacity, but most Desirous yt ye Sd office may be Executed in Such manner
as may be most for their maties and Consequently for yr Countys Service I Doe therefore
for this first time & without Prejudice to my Right, request of you (Gents) to Certify
to me by ye first opportunity whom you shall Judge ye most honnest and able Clerk for
that Employmt  to be Executed by himselfe & not by a Deputy, and ye prson bringing such
your Certifycate shall be sufficiently Empowered by me to prforme his Duty to yrs & ye
Countyes Satisfaction, this is at present what I have to Impart to you from Gent
on ye margent of ye Sd Letter                                            your humble Servant   Thomas Larrence
it was written as followeth. The
Clk must bring ye names of two prsons who will be Security with him to Indemnify me for any miscarage
he shall Committ in ye Execution of his office - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
