Cause to be keep all laws & ordr^s for y^e good & Conservation of y^e Peace & for y^e Quiett Rule &
Governm^t of y^e People in all & every y^e Articles of y^e Same, and to Chastize & punish all p^rsons
offending against y^e forme of any of y^e Laws & orders of this o^r Province or any of y^m in
Som^rsett County aforesd as according to y^e forme of these Laws & ord^rs. shall be fitt to be done
Wee have also Constituted & ordained you & every four or more of y^w of which you y^e Sd ffrancis
Jenckins John Winder. James Dashiel & Roger Woolford allwayes to be one of y^e Comission^rs
to Enquire by y^e  oaths of good & Lawfull men of y^r County afforesd of all manner of ffelloneyes
Witchcrafts Inchantm^ts Sorceries Magick art Trespases forestalings Ingrossings &  Ext^rtions
Whatsoever & of all & Singular other Misdeeds & offences (Excepting matters relating to title
of land) of which Justices of y^e Peace in England may or ought lawfully to Enquire by wheresoever
of Whensoever done or p^rpetrated or which hereafter shall happen to be done or p^rpetrated in y^e
County aforesd against y^e Laws & ord^rs of this o^r Province  Provided y^t y^w p^rceed not in any
of y^e Cases aforesd to take life or Member,  but that in Every Such Case you Send y^e prisoners
with their Inditm^ts & the whole Matter Depending before you to y^e next Provinciall Court to
be holden for this o^r Province Whensoever or wheresoever to be holden there to be tryed . And
further we doe Authorize y^w here by to issue out writts, Processes, arreasts & Attachments to
hold plea of oyer & terminor & after Judgm^t Execution to award in all Causes Civill whether
in accons reall or p^rsonall according to y^e laws ord^rs . & reasonable Customs made & used in this
o^r Province of Maryland in which Causes Civill So to be tryed (Excepting as before Excepted)
We Doe Constitute ordaine & appoint you y^e sd ffrancis Jenckins John: Windor &ca to be Judges
as aforesd.And therefore we doe Comand you y^t y^w Diligently attend the keeping of y^e Peace Laws
& ord^rs & all & Singular other y^e premises and at Certaine Dayes appointed according to Act of
assembly in that Case provided & Such places which you or any four or more of you as aforesd
shall in y^t behalfe appoint yee Make Enquiry upon y^e premises & p^rforme & fullfill y^e Same
in forme aforesd Doeing therein y^t which to Justices appertaineth according to y^e Laws ord^rs &
Reasonable Customs of this o^r province Saveing to us y^e Amercem^ts & other things thereof to
us belonging And therefore we Comand y^e Sheriffe of Som^rsett By vertue of these presents y^t at y^e
Dayes & places aforesd which you or any such four or more of you as aforesd shall make known to
