Did pursue by Hue & Cry. Yett Nothwithstanding that the Said Peter Whaples was no
wayes ignorant of the Said Morris his Crimes Comitted, his just imprisonment his Escape
and persuit, The Said Peter not having his fear of God before his eyes but in Contempt
of Allmighty God, & our Savior Jesus Christ, whome the Said Morris had most horribly C
blasphemed, The Said Morris did not only Conceal & with him did barter & Swapp also
the Said Morris he did aid and abett, & him the Said Morris did furnish with a Pilott &
Other necessaries for his Escape from the hand of Justice, and thereby is become guilty
with the Said Morris in the Said Crimes. Now their Maties Attorney Comes & Sayes yt ye sd
Peter Whaples being guilty of the abovesaid Crimes ought to Suffer the pains & punishmtsB by
Law inflicted upon So notorious & heynious Offences. &ca.  Ja. Sangster  Clr Indts
 
The Indictmt being read, to which the sd Peter Whaples pleaded not guilty
& for tryall put himself upon ye Country.  _______   - - - - -   _____   - - - - -.
Whereupon Comand was given to the Sheriffe of our County to bring here twelve good and
Lawfull men of his Baylywick that the matter in hand might be the better understood.  A
List or pannel whereof are returned as followeth (viz) Samuel: Handy.  John: Parsons.  Wm:
Warwick.  John. Roach Senr; John: Heath. Wm: Beddard. Wm: Dempson.  John: Renshaw. C
Benjamine: Idlett. Richard: Tull. ffrancis: Martin.  Ralph: Milbourne.  12: who being C
leagally Sumoned, returned & Sworn upon the holy Evangelists, having heard the foresd C
Indictmt. read as also Seen & heard the Evidences (viz) George Benson & Anne his wife
& John Walker Sworne & examined. as also the Defence of ye sd Whaples dft receives
their Charge & are Sent forth to determine ye Same .   ________   - - - - - - -   _______
 
And this day (viz) the 15th: day of Septemr 1692. the above said Jurors betwixt
their Maties & the said Whaples returns to the Barr in Court, & being each man Called by
his name, and being demanded, are all with one Consent unamously agreed of their verdict  The
plt & Deft being called, the verdict is read as followeth.  Wee the Jurors find Peter
Whaples guilty of the Indictmt given in by me.  Samuel: Handy.  ________   - - - - -   _____
Which verdict was by the Court Ordered to be entered
Ordered, the Sheriffe take Peter Whaples into Custody till he give Security for fifty dayes
work with diet & tools as also for his Good behavior & Court Charges  _______   - - - - -
      Ordered by the Court the Jurors be pd their accustomed fees at mr Whittingtons. 120
