( 41 ) 7ber 15: 1692 Whereupon Came the foresd Peter Whaples with his two Securities viz Capt Wm Coulborne & Hough : Porter. And the sd Peter did by Recognizance in Open Court Confess himself to be indebted to our Sovereign Lord & Lady King William & Queen Mary their Heirs & Successours the sum of twenty pounds Sterling money of England & the sd Capt Coulbourne & Hough Porter in the Sum of ten pounds apiece like money. due to be leavied on their goods & Chattels Lands & Tennements for their Maties uses &ca. _________ - - - - - - - - - _______ - - - - - ______ The Condicon of Which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound Peter Whaples be of the good behaviour & abearance to all their Maties Liege People dureing this Courts pleasure then the Recognizance to be void & of none effect, Otherwayes to be & remain in full power force & vertue _____________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - ______________ - - - - - - - - - - - Likewise Came the sd Peter Whaples with his other Securities viz mr John: Webb & mr Rob Pirrie. and the Said Peter. did acknowledge him Selfe to owe & be indebted to the worll Justices of Somerset County Court the Sum of five thousand pounds of Tobacco, & the sd Webb & Pirrie did acknowled themselves to be indebtedto sd Court the Sum of five & twenty hundred pounds of tobaccoor porke due to be leavied on their goods & Chattels lands & tennemts, for the Courts use &ca. ________ The Condicon of this Recognizance is Such that if the above bounden Peter Whaples doe well & truly performe & pay fifty dayes worke with diet & tools, when by the Justices of Somerset County Court Shall demand as also all Court charges, which Charged the sd Pirrie assumed in Court to pay. then the Recognizance to be void, Otherwayes to be & remaine in full power force & vertue Their Maties Somerset Sc. The Jurors for their Maties being Sworn upon the Contra } holy Evangelists at a Grand Jury held for ye body of this County Thomas: Porter do Present & find: That Thomas: Porter of Wiccocomicoe hundred - - - - - - - - - & within the Jurisdiction of this Court not having the fear of God before his eyes but Instigated by the devil, upon the Sabbath or Lords day before August Court 1691, did most wickedly & grossely abuse the Said Sabbath & go into the Marish Upon the Said Wiccocomoco River & over agt the Landing place of Wm: Elgate, did then & there kill & felloniously Steal two Barrows & One Sow belonging to mr ffrancis Jenckins of this County &ca of the value of eight hundred pounds of tobacco, And then & there Others of the Said mr ffrancis Jenckins his hoggs did Criple wound & lame, that Severalls of the sd hoggs were Never Seen.To the great hurt & damage of the Said mr ffrancis: Jenckins, the hurt of the good people of this Province dishounour of Allmighty God, breach of the Laws both humane & divine and agt their Maties People |
