John Harris        This day brought a Nigro man into Court, which Nigro
told the Court that his name was Wm: Philips, and that he had Served Majr Beaverly
sd Nigro likewise Said that he was a piece of a Carpenter, and that his Godfather Gilbert Philips
freed him from sd Beaverly, which sd Gilbert Lived in James Citty he likewise told the Court
that he Came Over in April last past in Coll. Custiss Sloop & further Said Coll  Custis knew him
to be a free man. the Said Nigro told the Court the last place he was at work was at Tho: Midleton
 
Ordered by the Court the abovesd Nigro be taken into the Sheriffs Custody till
Security given that he is a freeman, or prduce Cert. from Coll Custiss directed to Some Magistrate
here that he is a freeman . _____   -  -  -  -  -   _____  Coppie Ordr given Sher. Ordr. sec. for fees
 
To the Worll: Court of Somerset County the humble Petion of Paskew Barcley C
humbly Sheweth. that whereas yr Petionr hath attended ye Court two & twenty dayes as an
Evidence agt James Inglish & Wm: Mason. Your Petioner therefore humbly Craves C
Satisfaction for the Said time, & yr worpps Order for the Same, & yr petioner as in duty bound
