The Petion of Richard:Hill humbly Sheweth. - - - Whereas yr worps was pleased to Order
Richard: Hill to be One of the Overseers for Seeing of the high wayes at Bogatenorton
Cleared. your Petioner to the knowledge of the Neighbourhood is So lame for the most part of ye
year that he is uncapacitat thereby to performe the Office laid upon him by yr worshipps
your Petioner humbly Craves yr worps would be pleased to take into yr Consideracon my
Condition, & be pleased to Ordaine One his place & yr worps petioner, as in duty bound shall

ffranklin be Overseer in Stead & place of the abovesd Richard: Hill. _______   - - - -

To the worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset in Court Sitting.
The humble Petion of Margaret Towers humbly Sheweth.  That whereas your Petioners
Child: David:Gall was bound by Order of Court to James:Barry Tanner in ffebruary
Court was Seaven years, and by the Said Order of Court the Sd Barry was to learn ye sd
Boy to read & write & the art of a Tanner, which he has done neither- but abused
him and Sold him to mr Andrew:Whittington Contrary to agreemt. which Child I have
now brought before your worps in hopes yr worps will Consider the premises your
Petioner as in duty bound Shall pray. _____   The Petion being read mr James
Barry being present, did assign all his right title & interest to the abovesd mr Andrew
Whittington, & he the Sd Whittington in Open Court assumed to learn ye Said David
to read and write & Tanners Trade, and to give him the sd David, when at age
One Cow and Calf.  The Court judges the Sd David to be ten years of age & Orders
him till at age to Serve ye Sd Whittington &ca.
 
Wee of the Jury of Inquest for Orphants doe prsent James:Barry for abuseing & Selling
David Gall an Orphant Child.
We doe present John:Strawbridge for keeping James:ffurnis an Orphant out of his
Estate, & for Wasteing & destroying ye Timber upon the Sd Orphants Land.
