  Contra.                      }          Teague. Riggin Sen^r of this County was attached to answ^r
Teague Riggen: Dft                           unto Edward Jones, in a plea of trespass upon y^e Case.
~   ~   ~   ~   ~   ~   ~   ~           And whereupon the aforesd Edward Jones, for himself comes
and Sayes.  That the sd Teague Riggen Sen^r in y^e  year of o^r Lord 1690 and in the year
1691: Then became indebted unto the plt. in the full & just Sum of Six hundred pounds
of tobacco as doth appear by a Certain account & here in Court produced, which said (Sum)
of Six hundred pounds of tobacco. The Said dft did promise & Assume to pay to the (sd)
plt when thereunto required, but the dft litle regarding his promise & assumption
but minding & fraudulently intending the plt to deceive in the Sum of Six hundred
pounds of tobacco, but hath denyed to pay & Still doth deny, though often thereunto
required, whereupon the plt Saith he is damnified, & hath losse to y^e value of 1000 pnds
of tobacco, & thereupon brings his Sute.

of the Same County Under Sheriff for that the Said Samuel Sometime on or about the (3^d)
day of March in the year of our Lord 1691, at the SeaSide, in the County afd, did extort (receive)
and take of and from One Thomas Roberts of the County afd the Sum of One hundred and
twenty pounds of tobacco, under pretence & Colour of Sumoning a Jury for the sd Roberts
in a Certain matter formerly in the Sd Court depending, Contrary to their Maties peace & (agt)
the form of an Act of Assembly intituled an act for limitation of Certain Officers fees
