Contra    }       The Grand Jury for the body of this County doe p^rsent Cap^t
Wm: Piper. __           Wm. Piper late of this County, for that the Said Wm: Piper
~    ~   ~    ~    ~           not having the fear of God before his eyes but moved by the
instigation of the Divel on or about the 10^th. day of January in the year of  Lord 1690 =
at Monocan within the Jurisdiction of this Court, then & there being One hogg of the value
of two hundred pounds of Porke, belonging to Christopher Snoswell, the Same did wickedly
felloniously thieve Steal & Carry away Contrary to the Peace & agt y^e form of an act of
Assembly in that Case made & provided.  Dent Clk of p^rsentm^ts.
Evidences Sworn in Open Court agt Sd Piper were Hen:Sassnett & Sam^l. Worthington & Sent
up to the Grand Jury, who returned the abovesd Indictm^t. Billa vera.
 
            The Indictm^t. being read to w^ch the Said Piper pleaded not guilty, & for tryal refers
him Self to the Country. ----    Wherefore Comand was given to the Sheriff of this County
To bring here twelve good & Lawfull men of his Balywick that the matter in hand might
be the better understood, a List or pannel whereof are returned as followeth. (viz) James Curtis
Alexander Thomas. Lawrence.Gary  James:Langreen. George: Goddard. Moses ffenton
Richard:Cary. Somerset. Dickinson. Jn^o.Gray. Roger: Odowey: Thomas:Smith  William
Wallis 12) who being legally Sumoned returned & Sworn upon the holy Evangelists
who having heard the foresd Indictm^t. as also Seen & heard the two Evidences Sworn &
examined, receives their Charge and are Sent forth to determine the Same ________
 
And this day to witt the 16^th. day aforesd Came the foresd Jurors on tryal betwixt
their Maties & sd Piper, and being p^rticuliarly Calld over each man by his name
being all unamously agreed of their verdict, The plts & dft being likewise calld, the sd
verdict (is) read in these expresse words following (viz) Wee of the Jury finds Cap^t
Piper not guilty of the Indictm^t.   James:Curtiss. foreman. __________________
 
Which foresd verdict was p^r Court to be entered. and also that Cap^t. Wm: Piper
pay to Christopher Snoswell (Eighty four) pounds of Porke to Christopher: Snoswell
