Know all men by these presents that the Said Mary Hewet hath before us voluntarie &  free(ly)
without any fear or threats from her Said Master & Mistress or any Compulsion but h hath B
(will)ingly engaged her Self and for to Serve her Master Berret the full terme & time of three
years after the time of her said Service as she is to Serve by her first Indenture & to Serve
(my) Said Master truly & faithfully in Such Service as her Said Master shall imploy me in
dureing the time of her Said Servitude & to Serve the Said George Berret & his Assigns  The Said
Berret of his Assigns is for to find the Said Hewet Sufficient diet washing Cloth and
Lodging dureing her time & at the expiration of her time for to pay her Corne & Clothes
according to the Custome of the Country as Wittness our hands & Seals the 21th. of March
1688./9. Mary:Hewets her part of this engagement is in Consideration of her abovesd Cure

Know all men by these presents that I George Berret of great Wiccocomocoe in
Virginia in the County of Northumberland doe Assign over One woman Servant for
the full & whole terme & time of four years to come unto ffrancis:Roberts her name
being Mary Hewet as Wittness my hand this first of March One thousand Six hundred
ninety one & two -   -      March ye 1st 1691/2 by me George Berret.

The Said Mary Hewet and ffrancis Roberts both appearing in Court
It was then Ordered that the said Mary have her freedome from
ffrancis Roberts, and that he the sd Roberts pay her Corne & Clothes.

December 1692.  The Deposition of Lawrence: Gary aged about fifty years & five
Saith that he (saw) and read an Indenture that George Berrett of great Wiccocomocoe
in Virginia (shewed him that) Mary Hewet was to serve the Said Berret four years          
Sworn in Court this      of March 1692/3 pr Law. Gary
