  179                                                                                                                                                     March 15th 1692/3
     To the Worshipfull Justices of their Maties Peace in Court now Sitting for ye County of
Somerset C   The Petion of Wm:Wouldhave humbly Sheweth: That whereas Thomas
Oxford being Ordered the 18th day of October 1692: to pay Sixty dayes worke upon
Pocomoke Bridge mr John:Goddin & yr Petioner were appointed Overseers to the worke
but by reason of great floods of Water it could not be performed this winter yr Petioner
being like to be at great trouble to see the Said worke done, living at So great a distance
from the Bridge, will engage if yr worpps will be pleased to allow the ffine of Maud
Mcgowen to perform the worke of the Causway, it being by yr worpps formerly allowed
the aforesd Oxford, if his Sixty dayes worke could not Compleat it.  Your worps Petioner
Craves yr Order to me & it Shall by the help of God be performed & yr Petioner as in
duty bound shall ever pray &ca .
The abovesd Petion being read was granted.  The sd Wouldhave assumeing forth
with to repaire ye Said worke, & by the next fall to compleat & finish the Same.
 
Rich Rugg this day in Court produced a receit which he desired might be proved in Court
which was by the Oath of Somerset Dickinson _________________________________
 
To the Worll. Justices of their Maties Peace for the County of Somerset in Court now Sitting
The Petion of Thomas Oxford humbly Sheweth that whereas yr Petioner last was bound
to the bonds of the good behaviour, your Petioner ever Since hath Carried himself loyally
& Civily to all his Maties Subjects & liege people (as I hope none can declare ye Contrary
your Petioner Craves your worpps would be pleased to release me from my Bonds and yr
Petioner as in duty bound Shall ever pray &ca.
        The above sd Petion being read, & Proclamacon made, ye abovesd Bonds as prayed granted
 
Their Maties                          Somerset Ss // Whereas John:Pope of this County Planter upon
the 2th day of May anno Domini 1692. was bound by Recogniz
           Contra        }    before mr Samll Hopkins One of their Maties Justices of ye Peace
John  Pope                             for this County (the Condition) of which Recognizance is Such yt
~   ~   ~   ~   ~    ~        the Said John Pope Shall make his personall appeareance before
their Maties Justices of the Peace at the Court next to be holden for the Said County then &
there to answer what should be Objected agt the said Pope, on behalf of their Maties  Now
