March 14th. ano 1692/3 174 Said River as is well knowne to Some of yr worps Thomas Manlove hath wasted & destroyed & now intending all together to defraud the said Orphant of the sd Land lying on the South Side of the Branch hath thereof made Sale yor petioner therefore humbly Craveth yr (worps) to look into it, that the Orphant be not wronged, And grant yr worps Order that the sd Land may be run out, according to Pattent,that the sd Orphant may reap ye benefit of her own, which others unjustly detain, posess & enjoy and not by any right, & yr worps Shall never want the harty prayers of the Widdow & the fatherless. Court of Somerset County this day Sitting being March the 15th 92/3// humbly Sheweth That whereas Margaret Kenneday your Petioners hired Servant, was attached impleaded & prosecuted before yr worpps for hogg Stealing & was found guilty of Stealing Six or Seaven Swine, when yr Petioner & his wife were in Accamack, And whereas yr worpps Petioner is frequently threatned & demanded to pay the Charges of the Said Sute, which he humbly conceives in reason & equity he ought not to doe but that the Said Kenneday Should pay & bear the Charges thereof as being the principall in the Said wicked exploit, and as yr Petioner appearing upon the Said Tryal before yr worpps a Clear & innocent person & alltogether ignorant of the sd fact B Comitted untill prosecution was made agt the said Margarett & others Concerned wth her now your worpps petioner humbly prayes your aid for remedy in the premises, that he may be no more for the future molested & agrieved with the Said illegall demands to his real damage in paying what is not his due, but that on the Contrary, yr worps will please to - - pr cribe Such regulations whereby the innocent may goe free & the guilty be punished your Petioner. The humble Petion of Thomas:Williams Sheweth That in September Court last past yr worps thought fitt to bind yr Petioner to his good behaviour (and) which your petioner no wayes (has misdemeaned) himself, humbly prayes his Said Bonds may be (remitted) Likewise yr Petioner has (stood bond) for Charles Johnsons behavior and therefore humbly Craves that he may be discharged ( ) not being willing to Stand bond for the Said Johnson any longer And as in duty bound Shall ever (pray, &ca) The abovesd Petion Read, and the said Bonds Still Continued |
