The foresd Declaration                                                                          Comand was given to the Sheriffe
to bring here twelve good & lawfull men of his Balywick that the matter in hand might
be the better known. A list or pannel Whereof are returned as followeth viz William
Piper. Daniel Hast. Wm. Harris. Matthew Wallis Samuel. Jones. John Kellam (Jno)
Jenner. Henry Philips. Gydeon Tillman. Thomas Willis. David.Griffis Nicholas
Evins. 12: who being legally returned Sumoned & Sworn & having heard & understood
the foresd proceedings, receives their Charge & are Sent forth to determine ye same
 
And this day being the 10th :day of 9ber. 1692. the Jurers of that afore
Said Jury returns to the barr in Court, & being calld each man  prticularly by his name
& being demanded are all  unannimously agreed of their verdict The plt & dft being
Calld, is thus read as followeth (viz) Wee find for ye plt according to Declaracon
Ordr to enter ye verdict      Wm: Pyper foreman
 
Their Maties                                                  Somerset Sc  The Jurers for their Maties at a Grand
Contra                         }          Jury held at Manokin the Second Tuesday in
Mary: Berry                                                   last past, being Sworn upon the holy Evangelists, doe present
~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~   ~                                 and find that Mary Berry of this County Spinster at Animessex
And within the Jurisdiction of this Court, not having the fear of God before her eyes but
by the instigation of the Divel, prompted by a wicked & abominable Lust with one Thomas
Williams of Animessex Planter, heretofore of evill fame. Some time before the 15th of
Decembr. ano Domi 1691. Did Comitt that mosts horrible & abominable Sinn of formication
& of her body had a Basterd Child, which in its own Nature is exceeding Sinfull and
injurious to the Law. Yett the Said Mary not Satisfied with that unlawfull act which of
itself is So heynious as Said is. But at Animessex aforesd together with the Said Tho.
Williams, did Contrive, plott & in their mind wickedly & horribly conceive the death C
murder & destruction of the said Infant & that it might not be known, but concealed from
the knowledge of all persons did Secretly & Clandestinely Convey her Self into the tobacco house
of the Said Thomas Williams where with the Only assistance of the Said Thomas She was
delivered of a Child whither Male or female is best known to God & the Same & the sd two (viz)
Thomas & Mary The Said Child most barbarously murdered & thrown to the hoggs to be
