(due) to be leavied on their goods & Chattels Land and Tennements for their Maties
uses &ca. .
The Condicon of the abovesd Recognizance is Such that if the aboves bound Edmund
Beauchamp be of the good behavior & abearance to all their Maties Liege people of
this Province dureing this Courts pleasure, as also from time to time and at all times &
here after Defend & keep this County harmless & indemnified from all charge and
trouble by means of One Basterd Child born of the body of Hannah Holland that then
the Recognizance to be void & of none effect, Otherwayes to be & remaine in force & vertue
 
       To the worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace for Somerset County. The humble ___
   Petion of Nicholas Carpenter humbly Sheweth unto yr worps. That Whereas your
Petioner had a Nigro woman named Katherine wch. he bought from Capt. Jno. King lately
So it is may it please yr worps that the Said Nigro Woman did runn away from yr Petioner
this prsent year before the Constable came to take an accot of the Tytheables, & never hath
been Seen nor heard of Since being 3. or 4. months agoe that yr Petioner with all other
the Neighbourhood doth veryly believe that the Said Nigro is Certainly dead. _________
 
The prmises Considered, may it please yr worps. to Remitt the Tax & publick Leavy
for this year of the Said Nigro Woman, She being runaway & dead, before the list
of the Tytheables was taken up, & never Since Seen. & as in duty bound. yr Petioner
Shall ever pray.  &ca ..
     Which Petion was read, & by this worll Court granted
 
        Ordered prCourt that Jno: Starrett be dismist from petty Jury.
