( 126 ) The aforesaid Petion and information being read & Considered the worll Court doe Ordr that Mary Maxwell Serve the sd Mr Edwd Jones five months for the four hundred pounds of tobacco aforesd & One hundred & thirty dayes for the thirteen dayes Runnaway time _______ - - - - - - - _________ - - - - - - - - __________ John: Pope being this day calld in Court; and for Non appa. the worll Court Orders that mr Robert: Pirrie SubSheriffe be bound pr Recognizance of 10, Sterling for the Said Popes appearance at or next County Court to be held the Second tuesday in January next in anno. 1692. to answer to Such things & matters as should be then and there Objected agt Said Pope on behalf of their Maties, wch Recognizance was then taken & acknowledged by the Said Pirrie in Open Court ___________ - - - - - - - Their Maties Edmund Beauchamp was attached to answer Contra } what Should be Objected agt him in their Maties Edmund: Beauchamp Behalf. Their Maties Attorney Comes & Sayes yt ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ the Said Edmund hath Contrary to the Laws of this Province Comitted fornication & On the body of Hannah:Holland begott a Basterd Child & now Craves judgmt agt ye Offendr. James:Sangster Clr Indts The Indictmt. being read to which the sd Edmd. pleaded not guilty ___ And the Said Hannah.Made Oath upon the holy Evangelists that he the sd Edmund= Beauchamp is the ffather of her Basterd Child for which she stood indicted. _____ Therefore it was Ordered by the worll Court that sd Edmund give Security for his good behavior & to keep the County harmless & indemnified from all Charges that may or might accrue by reason of the foresd Basterd Child. ___________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Whereupon Came Edmund Beauchamp and by way of Recognizance did Confess himself to owe & be indebted unto their Maties in the Sum of fourty pounds Sterling money of England & his two Securities likewise Came. viz mr Jno.Heath & Thomas Beauchamp who did in like manner aforesd acknowledge themselves indebted to sd Maties the Sum of twenty pounds Sterling money of England, all which sd three Sums |
