( 122 ) 9ber ye 10th ano 1692 Ordered by the Court that mr James Sangster give Security for Germaine Gillettes appa next County Court to be held the Second tuesday in Janry ano. 1692 to answr to maties &ca. Whereupon Came the Said James Sangster and pr Recognizance did acknowledge and Confess himself to owe & be indebted to their Maties in the Sum of tenn pounds Sterling money due to be leavied On his goods Chattells Lands & Tennements for their Maties uses &ca: _______ The Condition of the abovesd Recognizance is Such That if the abovesd Germaine. Gillett doe make his prsonall; appearance at our next County Court to be holden the Second tuesday in January then & there to answer to Such matters & things as shall be Objected agt sd Germaine On behalf of their Maties then this Recognizance to be void & of none effect, Otherwayes to be & remaine in full power force & vertue. ___________ - - - - - - - _________ - - - - - - - - - Their Maties Somerset Sc. The Jurors for their Maties Contra } being Sworn upon the holy Evangelists Thomas: Porter at a Grand Jury held for the body of this County ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ in June Court, doe prsent & find that Tho:Porter of Wiccocomocoe hundred & within the Jurisdiction Of this Court, not having the fear of God before his eyes but by the Instigation of the divell, did in anno 1690. Scoure & rainge ther. or Lycence from the authority of this their Maties Province, and in the Said year about the plantacon of mr Wm. Brereton in Wiccocomocoe hundred as aforesd, did then & there Clandestinely & felloniously take up Steal & Cary away One Gray Stone horse of the value of nine hundred ninety & nine pounds of tobacco & the Said Horse by the Said Porter So taken & Stolen. did ear marke the said Horse, the the Said horse did B Dock, the more felloniously to Conceal the Said theft from the Owner & Cause the Owner or others not know him, & the Same horse, So felloniously Stolen, the Said Porter did dispose of & Sell as his own propper goods in Ano. 1691.
