( 10 ) August the 9th 1692 The Country of its due, and abuse the Law Therefore their Maties Attorney Craves judgmt may be entered agt the Offender according to Law in that Case made and provided &ca. James Sangster Clr Indts The Indictment being read. The said Bishopp Confest judgmt. This Court Ordered the Said Bishopp fined according to Law. Thomas Selby having attended as Evidence for their Maties agt John: Bishopp nine dayes Craves your worps Order for attendance, and your Petioner as in duty bound Shall ever pray August the 9th. 1692 Thomas: Selby Sworn before me in Court Jno: King. The humble Petion of Daniel:Lisney. To the worll. Justices of Somerset County. your Petioner doth Say that he hath paid his Taxes in Virginia, and is Charged with it in this County again and your Petioner doth desire to be taken of the list, and yr. petioner shall pray. Petion granted . C - - - - C mr. ffrancis: Jenckins Confest judgment to a Bill of George Bannons for 1240lb Of tobacco if assetts in his hand. vide Bill in lib. A:W: fo. 163. - - - - - - - C - - - - - C Maryland Somerset County Ss The Deposition of GeorgeEro. (aged twenty eight years or there abouts) Mate of ye Samuel: and Henry Capt. John: Meads Comander) Saith that whereas the Deponent being at the house of ffrancis Jenckins in Pocomoke, along with John:Dorman Mercht (togeather with one mr Wm Nichols of the Cliffs mercct. On Monday the 25th. of April last past, heard Severall Conforenses of the abovesd Dorman & Jenckins about Tobaccoes, the said Dorman proposing to purchase A Considerable quantitie of Tobacco from the Said Jenckins, upon which the said Dorman & Jenckins walked out near the water side, and after Some Short time came both togeather into the house where was present the sd Jenckins his wife, & mr William Nichols with the Deponant where the said Jenckins Said to the aforesd Dorman (before the Deponant the aforesd persons being then present) well Capt.Dorman have we done now before these Evidences: is it a firme bargaine for my fifty hogsheads of tobacco you to allow me twelve shillings Six pence pr Cent in your goods now at the Landing, by the true & prime Costs in England (as shall appear by the Shopkeepers notes) without any aditionall Charge and to Send direct the goods by the first returne of the Sloop that is at the Landing by ye Mate; the sd Dorman replyed Yes it was their Bargain and there upon Shook hands together upon Confirmation of the Same, Dorman desireing the Said Jenckins to hasten up to meet him at Snow hill |
