( 224 ) Maryland Sc. To all Christian Peoples to whome these presents shall Come, I Philip: Hamond of the County of Somerset and Province abovesd Send greeting in our Lord God Everlasting Know ye that I the said Philip: Hamond for & in Consideration of Two thousand Two hundred pounds of tobacco, which I the said Philip doe justly owe & Stand indebted unto Lawrence: Crawford of the County & Province abovesd as also in Consideration that the Said Lawrence hath Covenanted & agreed to keep & Maintain me the said Philip in Sickness & in hearlth, with Sufficient meat, drink, apparel, washing & Lodging dureing the time of my naturall life, or So long as the Said Philip shall be willing to require the Same only living at the sd Lawrence Crawfords Plantation where he the Said Crawford Shall live himself, as also for other good causes & valuable Considerations me thereunto -- Espetially moving , have given, granted, & by these presents doe freely clearly & absolutely give grant and Confirme unto the Said Lawrence Crawford, all and Singular Such goods, Chattels, Untensils Utensils & Comodities as are now in my Custody & posession propperly appertaining & belonging unto me, or in the Custody and posession of any other person whatsoever, with all & Singular my lands Tennements & Heridittaments - - - Specified in a Certaine Pattent under the great Seal of the said Province of Maryland bearing date the third day of ffebry . Ano. Dom. 1681. Containing five hundred Acres of Land, lying on the South Side of Pocomoke River known by the Name of Jersey as more fully appeareth by the sd Pattent To have & to hold . the Said goods Chattels Lands & Tennements, with all & Singular the abovesd premises, unto the sd Lawrence: Crawford his Extrs Admrs or Assigns to his & their own propper uses & behoofe for ever, freely quietly & peaceable wth = out any manner of Claime, Challenge or demand of me the said Philip: Hamond or of any other person or persons whatsoever, for me, in my name, by my cause means or procurement, & wthout any money or other thing therefore to be paid or done but that is above Specified, to me the said Philip my Heirs Extrs or Assigns And the Said Philip: Hamond, all and Singular the aforesd goods, Chattels lands & Tennements, with all ye abovesd prsecs to the Said Lawrence Crawford & his aforesd agt all people doe warrant & forever defend by these presents. And further I the sd Philip: Hamond, have put the sd Lawrence Crawford, in peaceable & quiet possession of all & Singular the abovesd premises by delivery of the Pattent & other the Rights of ye said 500 Acres of Land called Jersey in name & behalf of all my goods Chattels Lands & tennements, at ye ensealing and delivery of these presents.
