( 207 ) April the 18th: 1692 Same Comrs. as aforesd - - - - - - - - - - - - - Capt. Andrew: Crookshanks being this day by his Mate Jno Buntin and the rest of the Shipps company except ye Carpenter Hunter. ___ The aforesd Crookshanks being examined by the Court Concerning the death of the foresd Hunter, Said he knew nothing of the matter, further then what his Seamen had informed him. ________ Whereupon this Court Examins the Seamen, who proferrs these following Depositions . ______ _____ __ 1. Being at Sea the 14th: day of March there is one mr Wilcock invited aboard and by on Sad accident fell out I declare as follows: I went down to the Cabin and stayed a litle tim wt them & it being neir to twalff I went up to take my Observation ^ beffor at the Ships head and ther Continued till twalff, So I hird Som off our Company call out that Robert: Hunter is kiled by mr Crukshanks So I run affter & Sie the man laying in John: Ores was holding up his head now being decd wt two wounds in his body & on in his face but ffor aney vearience betwixt them Sow I heard non the voyage bot was weary Coind to him alaong the woyage this is all I can declair as witness my hand. John: Boutin. The abovesd Deposition was read in Open Court and the sd John: Boutin made Oath upon the holy Evangelist to the truth there of . _____ - - - - - ________ - - - - - - _____ - - - - - - ______ - - - - - - 2: I under Subscrabing doe hereby declare what I did Sie & heir concerning the forsd accident, I being at ye hellm I did heir Robert: Hunter yt was killed offer to goe allong with the forsd mr. Willcock if the Master would Suffer him and Confirmed it, by a Oath. then the for sd Robert: Hunter went down betwixt decks & presentlie I heired a Struglen betwixt him & Some of our Companie & presentlie our Bosson John Brown by name cam upon Deck & his noss bleiding Saying that Robert Hunter his aboused him lick as I wer a beast, then I heird that Robert Hunter was coming upon Deck againe & I went to kip closs the Steareg dure yet by the flingren of the ship he prevald & pushed up the dure & I clapt a Rop about him to kip him fast but two of mr Wilcock his men cost aft the rop So I went to the helm againe & left him & presentlie our Master Andrew Cruckshankes Cam upon deck with ane Small sword in the one hand and a Begnet in the other his back was towards me & presentlie when I looked up againe I sie him raising aft Rott: Hunter & his shurt with much blood upon it, I cald och he is killed the man So ye man was dead & I se a wound above his left brest and a nother on his face, this is what I can declare Sieing nothing but love betwixt them two formerlie along the voage as wittness my hand A Davidson. The abovesd Deposition being read, the Deponent Alexander: Davidson made Oath to the truth thereof - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ________ - - - - - - - - - - __________ - - - - - - - - - ___________ - - - - - - - - 3: I under fulding doe heir by declare what I know Concerning the for sd accident, I being upon deck, I did sie Robt Hunter com upon deck with his stockens wanting his shoos, and he went forward to the head tacking a tourn after he Sies the Master Andrew: Cruckshanks coming upon Deck with a Small Sword in the one hand & a Begnet in the other, then Rott: Hunter went forward & finds ane hatchet in the boot and comes after, and Sayes to the Master Man I am not afrayed of my life So they they went together & the Master fell then he recovred him Self & they fell both -- together againe and the man was presentlie dead then I griped to the Begnet, & heaved it Over board as for ane - Verte,
