( 197 ) March the 12th. 1691/2 - - - - - - - - - - - Patrick: Read Plt. Somerset County Sc. James Barry of Somerset County in the Contra: } Province of Maryland Tanner was Sumoned to answer unto to James: Barry Dft Patrick Read of the Same County and Province Cordwinder of a plea - - - - - - - - - that he render unto him the full and just quantity of One thousand pounds of tobacco good and Merchantable with Caske to Containe the Same, which to him he Oweth & unjustly detaineth &c And whereupon the said Patrick by Peter Dent his Attorney Saith that the said James the eleaventh day of ffebruary in the year of our Lord 1690/1 at Monocan within the Jurisdiction of this Court, by his Certain Bill Obligatory which the said Patrick with the Seal of the Said James Signed bringeth here into Court, the date whereof is the day and year aforesaid acknowledged himself to be bound to the said Patrick in the said full and just Sum Of One thousand pounds of Tobacco good and Merchantable with Caske to Contain the Same, due to be pd upon demand to the said Patrick Read or his Order at Some Convenient Landing in Monocan Nevertheless the Said James the Said Sum of 1000 Pounds of Tobacco although often demanded the Same to the sd Patrick hath not rendered but hath hitherto refused and doth still refuse to the damage of the said Patrick of 2000= Pounds of Tobacco and thereof he brings this Suit &ca. Dent. pr Qr. Pledge. Jno. Doe Rich: Roe } The foresd Dft Jame Barry in Open Court Confest judgment for 1000lb: tobacco as is declared for vide Bill . Order granted for the Same alias Executio ___ This Bill bindeth me James Barry of Somerset County in the Province of Maryland Tanner my Heirs Extrs and Admrs to pay of Cause to be paid unto Patrick Read of the Same County and Province Cordwinder his Heirs Execcutors Admrs or Assigns the full and just quantity of One thousand pounds of tobacco good and Merchantable with Caske to Containe the Same due to be paid upon demand to the said Read or his Order at Some Convenient Landing in Monokin it being for a valuable Consideration by me allready recd, as wittness my hand and Seal this 11th day of ffebry 1690/1. - - - - - - - - - - James: Barry: Sealed . -- Testis .
