( 195 ) March 12th. 1691/2 Then was this Letter produced. viz - - - - - - - - mr Scarbrough. I wonder you will not pay to mr James Round the Cattel which is owing to me Reporting that I am in your debt 3S6: a where good plice for a honest man to deneid payment which you know I never was Indebted to you nothing. Except by deliver your Bill to me vas Ageed to alou you Six shillings this money which is 4S: 6d: ye money I hope that your Conscience will not premitt a false ley upon a man when he is not their to answer for himselfe, & I declare before God & the world that I am not indebted to you more then 6S. & so I give Order to the sd mr Round to pay you 6S: which is all what I am in your debt. I hope that you will be honest that yw neame mea by a broad and pay the Cattel to the sd mr Round the two Cowes & Calves and doing soe you will have a good neame & I am yr to Command - - Lewis ye 15th May: 1691 Mosseh: Aboab. The above written is a true Coppie of a letter Sent by the above mentioned Mosseh Aboab. to mr Matthew Scarbrough Testes: Robert Pirrie . - - - - _____ - - - - - _____ - - - - - _____ - - - - - _____ - - - - - - - _____ The whole proceedings being read mr Ja. Sangster appearing for the plt. mr Peter Dent the defendt. the matter being debated. the sd Dent Attorney asd. denyed to Confess judgment yet did acknowledge the Bill. Therefore it was This Courts judgment that the said Scarbrough doe pay according to Declaration. & that the sd Round pay to sd Scarbrough a piece of eight. George: Layfield Esqr. assignee Somerset County Sc. Somerset Dickison of this County of Mr. Thomas: Jones: Plt } Planter was attached to answer unto George Layfield Esqr Contra: Assignee of mr Thomas: Jones of this County Gent. in a plea of debt Somerset: Dickison. Dft. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - And whereupon the plt by his Attorney James: Sangster Comes and Sayes that the said deft is become and Stands justly indebted unto the plt in the just Sum of four hundred pounds of good Sound Mertable tobacco in Caske payable to the said Thomas: Jones, his Heirs Execcutrs or Assigns at Some- Convenient Town on Pocomoke River at or upon the tenth of November next ensueing ye daye of a Certain Spetialty- Signed and Sealed by the said deft. bearing date the fourth day of May Ano.Do. 1686. and is here in Court produced which, which Said Bill is now become the property of the plt.as doth and may appear or the Reverse of the sd Spetialty under the hand of the said Thomas Jones bearing date the first of March 1689: Yet the sd Defendt fraudulently and Craftily intending to deceive the plt of the said Sum, the same hath hitherto denyed and yett doth deny though often thereunto required, to the plts great loss & damage to the value of 800lb. Of like tobacco in Caske and hereupon brings this Suite &ca. Ja: Sangster pr Qre. pled prois - { Jno.
