( 181 ) March 9th. 1691/2:
This Deponent made oath to ye truth of all here written before us upon ye holy Evangelist this fourth Day of August
1691 Wittness my hand - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Samuell Hopkins - - - - -



The Deposition of ye within named Eliz: this Deponent Decleareth and Saith that in ye time of her Servitude with her
maser Page in ye Spring of ye year last was a twelve months there was a Sow and two large Piggs or Small Shoats be
-longing to ye Sd Sow which was ye proper Swine of Walter Reed which Sd Swine were long time wonted to ye plantation
of ye Sd page & went with his hoggs and this Deponent further Saith that her mistriss Bridgett Page Did upon a
Certaine Day take in hand to take ye Sd two Piggs or Shoats and in order there unto, Comand ye Deponent to assist
in Catching them together with her Son Thomas Parramore, And that one of ye Sd Shoats fall to ye lott of ye De-
ponents mrs. to be Caught and the other to her Sd Son, and ye Sd Swine being So taken this Deponent Saith that
her Sd mistriss tooke them both by ye hinder leggs and Dasht out their Brains against a tree one after ye other
and Conveyed them into ye house and layd them under yd Stayre Case, and ye Chilldren Expying them asked
their mother whether they were two piggs, the mother answered no Child or Children they are two Possoms that
were Caught in ye Corn field, the Sd two Piggs or Shoats were after Dressed by ye Deponents mistriss & eaten ~
in ye family being beaked in ye oven - - - further this Deponent Saith and affirmeth that Some Small time be-
fore ye last auutume or fall of ye leafe her Sd Mistress ordered ye within named margarett Kennedy her Son
Thomas Parramore and Daughter Susanna to goe and tole up ye hoggs which being Done ye Sd Deponents
Mistress Sent for ye negro man out of ye field & Comanded him to take a Stoute Boar Barrow of George ~
Russels by ye Leggs, which ye Sd nigro Did and ye Sd Margarett and ye Sd Thomas Parramore knockt ye Sd
hogg Down and ye Sd margarett Stuck him and Ended his life this Deponent further Saith that ye Sd killers
of ye Sd hoggs Did also Dress him which when ye Deponents mistress beheld She told those that were about
ye hogg She would not See it Done nor have any hand in it, notwithstanding She ordered ye Cutting out of ye
Sd hogg and Salting him up which was after eaton in ye family, this the Deponent Saith and further Saith not about ye
Sd Shoats and Single Barrow witness ye Deponents hand - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
This Deponent made oath before me upon ye holy Evangelist to ye Eliz: E Larrence
truth of all here written this 4th Day of Augt 1691 wittness my hand Samll. Hopkins - - - - - marke - - - - -

And this day to witt the 10th: of March. Anno. Dom. 1691/2 Came the aforesd Jury as appears in fo: 176=
and being calld by their Names being all unanimously agreed, delivers in this verdict, the plts & defts
being calld the verdict is read as followeth ___ Wee of the Jury to find Bridgett: Page wife to Stephen
Page guilty of killing the two piggs or Shoats of Walter Reeds also value them at 60lb. tobacco. And the
Said Bridgett her Sonn & daughter and Margerett: Kenneday, guilty of killing of George Russells Boar Barrow
and do: vaue the same at 150lb: Of tobacco. Henry: Hall foreman . __ which foresd verdict was Ordered to be
entered. The Courts judgmt thereon was, that Satisfaction is to be made according to Law. __ The sd Stephen
Page craved an appeal, which by the Court was granted ye sd Page giving Security as the Law did require, Ordered
the sd Page remain in the Sheriffs Custody till the sd Security was given. But the said Page Craved of ye worll Court
for to have his appeal remitted, which by the Court was granted, and the sd Page being willing to abide ye said
Courts judgmt. Order sd Page remain in Sheriffs Custody till Security given for the four fold, Charges & behavious
