James Inglish & William: Mason this day in Court tendered two Securities for prosecution of
their writt of Error (viz) :Peter: Elzey and James: Smith. the sd Smith being no freeholder there
for that Security was not thought responsible -- Where upon this Court Orders that mr ffrancis
Jenckins & Capt. John: King should take Security of the said Inglish & Mason. _____ ~ ~ ~ ~


The Sheriffe of our County then produced to Court this following precept, viz
By the Provinciall Court. Ocber 9th 1691
Ordered that you apprehend & take into your Custody the Bodies of William: Mason
and James: Inglish. of yr County accused for hogg stealing, & them in Safe & Secure Custody you
keep, untill they tender and give Bond with Suffitient Security to prosecute their writt of Error =
lately by them Sued out of the high Court of Chancery, & hereby enjoyning that the Bond aforesd be
taken before two of the Justices of your County, and the Sureties to Suite as they shall like of.

To mr Stephen Luffe high Sheriffe W Taylard Clr. Pro Cur
of Somerset County -- These.
this should have been placed in yr 13th. day proceeds.

Somerset County Ssc. Know all men by these presents that wee John: ffrancklin and
Edward: Hammond doe Oblige our Selves to deliver to John: Hammond by the first day of May
next each of us one good Suffitient Cow and Calf to be by the said John: Hammond kept for his
daughter Rhodiah: Hamond with all their future increase, And in Case the sd Rhodiah should dye before
she should come to age then the said Stock of Catle to descend to her Sister Anne: Hammond as wittness
our hands and Seals this 14th day of November 1691. Before Sealing & Signing we doe declare the sd
Stock be to them and their Heirs for Ever as before given & desire it may be Recorded -- --

Somerset Sc. Whereas your worpps was pleased to Order the Subscribed to inquire into the Charge of a Nigro
Child belonging unto the Estate of Edwd. Smith late of this County decd being in the hands of Dr John
Vigerous. we have in Obedience to your worpps. Order Obeyed, & what we can gather in the matter is not
Satisfactory in So much that we Can render no report but if yr worps please to examine mr Matt Scarbrough
& mr Wm. Innis they may render Satisfaction according as required -- -- John: ffranklin
Tho: Poynter.
Ordered that Ellis Coleman & mr Jno. ffranklin give report to next Court of the foresd Charge of Nigro --
