November the 13th: 1691. It was Ordered by this Court at Tindalls Tryall, that the sd Tindall
should be fined Seaven hundred & fifty pounds of tobacco for which he the sd Charles Tindall is
to give Security, as well also for his good behaviour &ca. _____ _____ Whereupon Came the Said
Charles Tindall & by Recognizance did Confess himself to be indebted to their Maties. Wm & Mary
King & Queen over England &ca. the just Sum of fourty pounds Sterling money of England due to be
Leavied on his goods & Chattels, Lands & tennements for their Maties uses &c. Likewise Came the said
Tindalls two Securities, viz John: Smock & John: Outen, and did likewise acknowledge themselves
to be justly indebted in the Sum twenty pounds a piece like money to be leavied ut Supra _______
The Condition of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound Charles Tindall doe well
and truly pay unto Capt. Samuel: Shewell Seaven hundred and fifty pounds of tobacco, as also be
of the good behaviour & abearance to all their Maties Liege people of this Province dureing this
Courts pleasure as also pay all Officers fees then the abovesd Recognizance to be void & of none effect
otherwayes to be & remaine in full power force & vertue. ________ ~ ~ ~ ~ ________vid. 137



Their Maties Their Indictmts being read in 7ber Court last past as appears
Contra in Lib. A:W: fo: 161. = and this day the same indictmt read
John Lynch & George } whereupon the Defendants Confessed to the fact -- Therefore
Nigro of mr. Thorrowgood the Court Orders that the sd Lynch. & Nigro pay the four fold/viz
- - - - - - - - - 600lb. tobacco a piece. but they being both Servants the same was
Considered by mr Peter Dent who abated 200lb. therefore it is Ord
=ered as followeth. viz mr Lawrence: Crawford assumed in Court to pay to mr Dent 500lb. Of tobacco
for the sd Lynch with fees -- mr. James Sangster Likewise assumed ye paymt. of the other 500lb =
tobacco for Thorrowgoods Nigro ut Supra -- ~ ~ ~ ~ _______ ~ ~ ~ ~ _____
Ordr. granted for ye Same with Cost alias Executio

It is further Ordered likewise that the Sheriffe take the said Lynch & George the
Nigro into Custody and at the whipping Post to give them each tenn Lashes
a piece upon their bare backs well laid on. which was Executed --



Their Maties. Somerset County Sc. The Jurors for their Maties being Sworne upon
Contra } the holy Evangelists at a Grand Jury held for this County doe present &
Eliz: Cunningham find that Eliz: Cunningham. Servt. to mr Lawrence Crawford of Pocomoke
- - - - - - - - - River & within the Jurisdiction of this Court hath most wickedly Sinfully
and Shamefully Comitted fornication & borne a Basterd Child to ye great Dishonour of Allmighty God Scandall & evill Example to their Maties good people of this Province & agt
the Laws & institutions of this Province. their Maties Attorney Craves judgmt.may be entered agt ye sd Offender
according to Law in that Case provided.. Ja. Sangster Clr Indtmts ________ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ _______
The Inditmt. being read to wch. the deft pleaded guilty. therefore is fined pr Court 25 dayes worke
and diet with tools. which mr Lawrence Crawford Assumes to pay with fees --
