This Indenture Made the Seventeenth day of January Anno One thousand Six hundred ninety
ninety One, and in the fifteenth year of the Dominion of the right Honourable Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary
of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore &ca. Between John:Richards of the County
of Sussex in the Province of Pennsilvania, and Philip Gravinor of Nanticoke in Somerset County in the Province
of Maryland both Planters of the One part, And George Carter of Somerset County in the Province of Maryland
of the other part Wittnesseth. That whereas by, by deed of graunt under the great Seal used in this Province
for granting of Lands bearing date at St. Maries. Know you that whereas Coll. William:Stevens of Somerset County ~
had a warrant for Seven m:~Achors graunted him the first of March One thousand Six hundred and eighty, and
had laid out for him a percell of Land Called Wesson lying in the County aforesd all which title and interest the
Said William: Stevens hath made over to the sd John: Richards, as by the Pattent more fully appear and
upon Such Conditions and terms as are expressed in Conditions of Plantation of our late ffather Cecilius of
Noble memory according as the Pattent for the said Land Called Wesson more fully declares bearing date the
Sixth day of Aprill One thousand Six hundred eighty two. Did for the Conditions graunt unto him the said John
Richards, that the said percell of Land Called Wesson lying in Somerset County on the East side of Nanticoke River
a litle to the Northward of wetipqueen Cree. bounded as followeth. Begining at a marked Gum Standing on
the North side of a glade of Swamp near the sd River. Thence runing for breadth, with a line drawn North North
East eighty pearches, to a marked Pine Standing on a point, then with a line drawn for length East four hundred
twenty Seven pearches, thence South South west eighty pearches, and from then with a right line drawn to the
first bounder. Conteining and laid out according to Certificate of Survey thereof, taken and returned in the Land
Office at St. Maries, bearing date the twelve day of March One thousand Six hundred and eighty and there remaining
upon Record for two hundred Acres of Land more or less, and as farther may be seen in the said Pattent for the
Said Land, togeather with all Rights priveledges and benifitts thereunto belonging Royall mines excepted. Now
This Indenture further wittnesseth that the above named John:Richards. and Philip: Gravenor as he is Attorney to
Rachel the wife of the sd John: Richards, for them Selves, their Heirs Extors, Admrs and Assigns, do freely & fully
for the Consideration of three thousand eight hundred pounds of good sound Merchantable tobacco in Caske, in hand paid
by the said George Carter before the ensealing and delivery hereof whereof and wherewith the said John: Richards
and Philip: Gravinor Attorney as aforesd doe owne and acknowledge themselves fully Satisfied and paid and doe
of and for every part or percel thereof for ever acquitt & discharge the aforesd George Carter his Heirs, Extors
Admrs & Assigns, and by these presents have given granted bargained and Sold, alienated, enfeoffed & Confirmed
unto the sd George Carter and to his Heirs, Execcutors Admrs and Assigns for ever, all the aforesd Land Called
Wesson. as also the aforesd John: Richards, and Philip: Gravinor Attorney as aforesd, doe for them Selves, their
Heirs Extors Admrs & Assigns, graunt, bargain & Sell as aforesd to the sd George Carter as aforesd for ever all
and singular the Pattents, Indentures, Counterpains, writings, Conveyances, or any other way whatsoever, with all
and Singular the premises, thereunto pertaining or belonging unto him the sd John: Richards for the sd Land
unto him the said Carter as aforesd, and doe ingage this my Sale or alienation good and free from any former
Sale, Mortgage, graunts or Incumbrances whatsoever from our Selves or either of our Heirs, Execcutors - -
or any other way or manner whatsoever in Law, unto him the said George Carter his Heirs Execcutors &ca -
for ever. As wittness our hands and Seals this Seventeenth day of January in the year as above written
