CHAPTER 7.
AN ACT to alter and amend the charter of the Swanton
Coal and Iron Company, passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and forty-nine, chapter one
hundred and fifty-three, and to authorise said company
to divide their Capital Stock into shares of one
hundred dollars each, nominal value, instead of two
hundred dollars, as now required by the original act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the shares of stock of the Swanton
Coal and Iron Company, which by the second section
of said act are now divided into shares of two hundred
dollars each, shall be, and are hereby divided into shares
of one hundred dollars each, and the said company are
hereby authorised to issue certificates of stock of the
nominal value of one hundred dollars per share to the
full amount of their capital stock.

CHAPTER
8.
AN ACT to enlarge the number of the Directors of the
Laurel Machine Company.

WHEREAS, By the third section
of the act passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and forty-five,
chapter two hundred and seventy-nine, entitled an act
to incorporate the " Laurel Machine Company,"
the name of which company has since been changed
to " the Laurel Machine Company," the number of directors
of said company was limited to two, which
number is not sufficiently large for the convenient
transaction of the business of said corporation,—now
therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the number of directors of the
Laurel Machine Company be increased to four.
