CHAPTER 437.
AN ACT to compensate James M. Buchanan and Otho
Scott, Esquires, for their services as Commissioners,
appointed under resolution number twelve of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at January
session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two.

Authority to
pay.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That for the payment of their compensation,
for services rendered the State as commissioners,
under resolution number twelve of the last session of
the Legislature, in the matter of Archibald G. Ridgely,
charged with killing a fugitive slave, in Lancaster
county, Pennsylvania, and to cover all expenses connected
with the same, the Treasurer is hereby authorised
and directed, upon the warrant of the Comptroller,
to pay, in addition to the sum appropriated by the
second section of chapter three hundred and thirty, of
January session, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, to
James M. Buchanan and Otho Scott, the further sum
of eleven hundred and twenty-five dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted,
That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 438.
AN ACT to make valid and devise and bequest in the
Will of Isaac B. Landing, late of Worcester county,
deceased.
|
Assent given.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the assent of the State of Maryland,
to the devise and bequest in the will of Isaac B.
Landing, late of Worcester county, deceased, in favor
of the Methodist Protestant Church, of Newton, Worcester
county, Maryland, is hereby given and declared,
and the trustees of said church are hereby authorised
to receive the same, and make use of it for the benefit
of said church.

effect from and after the date of its passage.
