     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

                           CHAPTER 429.

AN ACT to incorporate the Union Hotel Company of
                      Denton, Caroline County.
Preamble.
     WHEREAS, certain individuals in Caroline county,
have associated themselves into a joint stock company,
and by their united funds have purchased a tavern
house in the town of Denton, to be conducted as a
public house of entertainment in which no spirituous
liquors are to be sold and desirous to protect and preserve
their property by act of incorporation; Therefore,
Incorporated.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That Thomas J. Quigly, James H.
Fountain, John Nichols, Joseph Pearson, James G.
Rodden, Thomas D. Case, Samuel G. Smith, Joel
Atwell, George Fisher, John R. Fountain, James
Melvin, Tilghman Nuttle and their associates successors
and assigns, be, and they are hereby created a body
corporate by the name and style of the Union Hotel
company of Denton, and by that name shall have perpetual
succession and shall be able and capable in law
to sue and  be sued, pleaded and be impleaded, answer
and be answered in any court of law or equity to make
and use a common seal, and the same to alter and
change at pleasure, to make and establish such by-laws
and regulations not contrary to law as shall be
necessary and convenient for conducting the affairs of
said corporation.
Capital stock.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said corporation shall consist of shares of fifty dollars
each and not exceeding in the whole one hundred
shares, and the said corporation shall be able and capable
in law in addition to purchase, receive and hold
real estate in fee simple or other less interest therein,
and also personal property; Provided, the clear annual
income of all such estate and property shall not
exceed two thousand dollars.
