CHAPTER 412.
AN ACT to authorise Clerks of Courts to pass orders
nisi for the ratification of Auditors reports and accounts.

Power to pass
orders nisi.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the clerks of the several circuit
courts for the counties in this State and the city of
Baltimore, the clerk of the superior court of Baltimore
city and the clerk of the court of common pleas for
said city, shall have a concurrent power with the judge
of their several judicial circuits, the judge of the said
superior court of Baltimore city, and the judge of the
court of common pleas of said city, to pass all orders
nisi for the ratification of Auditors reports and accounts,
but not final orders.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted,
That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 413.
AN ACT to authorise John L. Lankford, administrator
of Peter White, free negro, to execute a deed of
manumission for certain slaves therein mentioned.
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it is represented to
this General Assembly
of Maryland, that a certain Peter White, free negro of
Somerset county, deceased, was in his life time possessed
of certain slaves, who were his neice and nephew,
and for whom he held a bill of sale; And whereas,
the said Peter departed this life intestate, without any
relations within the fifth degree, by reason of which
the whole surplus of his personal estate after payment
of debts and expenses of administration, hath devolved
upon the State of Maryland.

Provisoes.

Be it enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland,
That John L. Lankford, administrator of the said
Peter White, be and he is hereby authorised and empowered
to execute a deed of manumission for the said
negro slaves belonging to the estate of said Peter, to be
acknowledged and recorded as other deeds of manumission;
Provided nevertheless, that nothing herein
