contained shall be construed in anywise to effect the
rights of any administrator of said Peter, or the claim
of said John, for his commission and expenses of administration;
And provided also, that said negroes
when emancipated, shall be subject to all the provisions
of the act, entitled, an act relating to the people of
color of this State, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty-one.



                           CHAPTER 414.

AN ACT to incorporate the Baltimore Dock Company.


     Passed May
30, 1853.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That Abraham B. Patterson, William
G. Harrison, Michael P. O'Hearn, Robert Howard,
Hiram Woods, Robert R. Kirkland, and George W.
Porter, and all and every other person or persons hereafter
becoming members of the Baltimore Dock company,
in the manner hereinafter mentioned, their successors
and assigns, shall be, and they are hereby created
and declare to be a body corporate and politic,
by the name and style of the Baltimore Dock company,
and by that name and style shall and may have perpetual
succession, and be capable in law of purchasing,
holding, improving and disposing of real estate, to the
extent in the manner and for the purposes hereinafter
authorised; and may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded,
answer and defend, and be answered and defended,
in all courts of law and equity; and may
make, execute and deliver, or have or cause to be made,
executed and delivered to them, all deeds, transfers,
gifts, grants, conveyances, covenants, contracts, agreements
and bargains whatsoever, necessary for the purposes
and objects of the said company; and may have
and use a common seal, which they shall have power
to alter, or renew at pleasure, and generally to do every
other act or thing necessary to carry into effect the provisions,
objects and purposes of this act; Provided,
that nothing herein contained shall authorise or empower
and company to acquire by purchase or otherwise
more than one thousand acres of land, in all of
which not more than fifty acres shall be within the
limits of the city of Baltimore; And provided also,
that before any title in law, equity or otherwise, in any
Incorporated.
