28, 1853.
                           CHAPTER 381.

AN ACT to provide for the erection of an additional
         Tobacco Warehouse in the city of Baltimore.
     Commissioners
appointed.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That William Cook and George D.
Tewksbury, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners,
with authority to purchase at such price as
they may deem reasonable, the ground now belonging
to James Hooper and Sons, and situated on Perry street,
being at the north-east corner of the lot belonging to
the State, and binding on the north side of Conway
street.
     To contract
for building.
     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That after having purchased
the said lot, and obtained what is deemed to be
a good title in favor of the State, the aforesaid commissioners
are hereby authorised to contract for, and to
superintend the building of a new tobacco warehouse
corresponding in general with that part of warehouse
number five, which binds on Charles street.
     Authority to
pay.
     SEC. 3.  And be it enacted, That the Treasurer, be
and he is hereby authorised and required to pay to the
said commissioners, on the warrant of the Comptroller,
from time to time, the sums which shall be required by
their requisitions, to be signed by them, and not to exceed
in the whole the sum of thirty-five thousand dollars.
     Expenses
charged to tobacco
fund.
     SEC. 4.  And be it enacted, That the cost and expense
incurred under this act, shall be charged in the
tobacco fund, and a detailed report thereof shall be
made to the Legislature within the first ten days of
next session.

                           CHAPTER 382.
 
AN ACT to authorise the renewal of certain certificates
     of State stock, belonging to the estate of Richard H.
     Jones, late of the city of Baltimore, deceased.
Preamble.
     WHEREAS, it is represented that Richard H. Jones,
late of the city of Baltimore, deceased, before and at
the time of his decease, was entitled to the sum of two
thousand and one hundred and eighty-four dollars, and
