at two successive law parades, or if the commanding
officer of the company, fails to make two successive
company returns, to the commanding officer of
the regiment, as required by law, said company shall
thereupon be reported by the commanding officer of
the regiment to the Adjutant General as disbanded;
and the commissions of the officers of said company
shall be revoked and annulled by the Governor.
Delinquency.
     SEC. 8.  And be it enacted, That if any officer of
said division shall be absent from four successive parades,
or shall fail to make four successive returns to his commanding
officer as required by law, he shall be reported
by his commanding officer to the Adjutant General
for such delinquency, and if no excuse is made satisfactory
to the Governor, he shall revoke and annul the
commission of said delinquent officer.
      Commissions
vacated.
     SEC. 9.  And be it enacted, That the commissions
of all regimental, field, and regimental staff officer,
and of all company officers of said first light division,
shall be vacated and annulled on the first of July next,
and all said vacancies shall be filled as soon as practicable.
Seniority.
     SEC. 10.  And be it enacted, That whenever two or
more company officers of the same rank in the same
regiment have commissions of the same date, the commanding
officer of the regiment shall determine by lot
the seniority of those officers, and the commanding
officers of the first and second light brigades shall in
like manner, in like cases determine the seniority of
their respective regimental field officers; and the
Major General commanding the first light division shall
in like manner in the like case determine the seniority
of the Brigadier General attached to his division.
     Mayor and
city council
of Balt. authorised
to appropriate
money.




Proviso.
     SEC. 11.  And be it enacted, That the mayor and
city council of Baltimore, be, and they are hereby authorised
to appropriate annually to the several uniformed
volunteer companies which shall have conformed to
the provisions of this act, such sum or sums of money
as they may deem necessary to encourage more effectually
the continuance of a well organized system of
uniformed volunteer militia in said city; Provided,
that the amount annually appropriated to each company
shall not exceed the sum of two hundred and fifty
dollars.
     Authority to
levy.
     SEC. 12.  And be it enacted, That the mayor and
city council of Baltimore, be, and they are hereby authorised
and empowered to levy upon the assessable
property of said city such sum or sums of money as
may be requisite to carry into effect the preceding section
