CHAPTER 306.
AN ACT to confirm the acts of Thomas C. Stump, of
Harford County, as a Justice of the Peace.

WHEREAS, it hath been represented
to this General
Assembly, that Thomas C. Stump, of Harford county,
who was duly commissioned a justice of the peace for
said county, has been acting as such without having
first paid the State tax on his commission and qualified
as provided by law; And whereas, great detriment
might unjustly ensue to such parties, as are interested if
the said acts of the said Stump were not confirmed and
and made valid; Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That all official acts of the said Thomas
C. Stump, made and done as justice of the peace in
and for Harford county, since the first day of April
eighteen hundred and fifty-two, be and the same are
hereby made as valid and effectual in law, as if the said
Stump had first paid the tax on his commission, and
had been in all other respects qualified to discharge the
duties of justice of the peace according to law; Provided,
that this act shall be recorded by the clerk of the
circuit court for Harford county, among the records of
his office at the costs and charge of the said Thomas C.
Stump, within six months after the passage of this act;
And provided further, that the said Stump pay or cause
to be paid to the clerk of the circuit court for Harford
county, the State tax on his commission as justice of
the peace for the county aforesaid, within thirty days
after the passage of this act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted,
That this act shall take
effect from and after its passage.
