the same by good and sufficient deed to said Bradford,
clear and discharged of said trust, and of all claim or
demand whatsoever, of said trustees or said Methodist
society in or to the same, and to apply the proceeds of
said sale in the manner above mentioned, or in any
other manner that said trustees, and other competent authorities
of said society having charge thereof, may deem
best for the interest of all concerned.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted,
That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 292.
AN ACT to make valid a deed from John H. Powell,
Jackson B. Powell and Robert W. Powell, of the
State of Virginia, to Arthur M. Powell, of Worcester
county, Maryland.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, John H. Powell, Jackson
B. Powell
and Robert W. Powell, of Northampton county, in the
State of Virginia, by their deed, dated on the tenth day
of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and forty-seven, have conveyed to Arthur M.
Powell, of Worcester county, in the State of Maryland,
all their right, title and interest in certain lands in Worcester
county, which said lands are described in said
deed; And whereas, the acknowledgment of the said
John H. Powell, Jackson B. Powell and Robert W.
Powell, to the said deed, was made in the State of
Virginia, and is defective, because it was not made before
a party properly authorised to take such acknowledgment,
under the laws of this State; Therefore,

valid.
Proviso.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted
by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the deed from John H. Powell,
Jackson B. Powell and Robert W. Powell, of the State
of Virginia, to Arthur M. Powell, of Worcester county,
Maryland, bearing date the tenth day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and forty-seven, and recorded
among the land records of Worcester county, in liber
E. D. M., number one, folios one hundred and forty-two,
one hundred and forty-three, and one hundred
and forty-four, be, and the same is hereby made as
valid and effectual in law, as if the acknowledgment to
the same had been taken before the authorities required
by the laws of this State, any law of this State to the
contrary notwithstanding; Provided, that nothing in
