three years from the passage of said act, be, and the
same is hereby extended to the first day of January,
eighteen hundred and fifty-nine, and to the end of the
General Assembly thereafter.

     SEC. 2.  And be it enacted, That the first section of
the aforesaid act be, and the same is hereby repealed,
and that Caspar W. Wever, Edward Garrot, Emory
Edwards, John Grim, junior, Frederick Rohrer, Elias
Davis, John Horine, Josiah Snevely, John Snyder,
William Loughbridge, Thomas H. Crampton, Jacob
Blecher, John J. Grim, George W. Brown and Josiah
Buck, and all other persons who may have subscribed,
or may hereafter subscribe to the stock of said company,
be, and they are hereby incorporated a body politic for
making a turnpike road, to be commenced at Weverton,
and running thence through the towns of Brownsville
and Rhorersville to the town of Boonsboro', in
Washington county, following the bed of the old road
as far as practicable.
Repealed.

Incorporated.
     SEC. 3.  And be it enacted, That the Legislature reserves
the right to alter, amend, modify or repeal this
act at pleasure.
Reservation.
     SEC. 4.  And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.
In force.


                           CHAPTER 269.

AN ACT giving certain powers to the Mayor and City
     Council, of Baltimore, in regard to the Pittsburgh and
     Connellsville Rail Road.

25, 1853.
     SECTION 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland,
That the mayor and city council of Baltimore,
be, and they are hereby authorised and empowered
to give such aid to the Pittsburgh and Connellsville
rail road company, as they may deem expedient,
either by lending to the said rail road company the
stock or bonds of the said city, on condition that the
said rail road company shall pay the interest on such
stock or bonds, until the time when the said rail road
shall be completed and opened from Pittsburgh, in
Pennsylvania, to Cumberland, in Maryland, or by a
guarantee of the bonds of the said rail road company;

     Authority to
