                                     RESOLUTIONS.

an additional bridge across the Menokin River, at or near the
steam mill situated within the western precincts of the town of
Princess Anne in said county, if in their judgment and discretion
they shall be of opinion, and so determine, that the public
interest and convenience actually require the opening of a public
road, and the erection of an additional bridge, in the manner located
and described by the report of certain commissioners, appointed
by Somerset county court, at May term, eighteen hundred
and twenty-three, in virtue of the act of assembly, passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and eighteen, chapter
eighty-nine:  Provided the said bridge shall be so constructed
as not to impede or obstruct the navigation of the said river, as
now used and enjoyed by boatmen, or any other description of
persons:  And provided also, that for the erection and completion
of said bridge, there shall not be assessed and levied on the
assessable property of said county, altogether, more than the sum
of four hundred dollars current money.

                                            No. 37.

     Resolved, That all further proceedings on two several judgments
obtained in Somerset county court, at September term,
eighteen hundred and twenty-five, by the state of Maryland,
against Charles Jones, the late sheriff and collector of Somerset
county, and his securities, be, and the same are hereby suspended,
until the first day of September in the present year of eighteen
hundred and twenty-six; and that the additional interest of
nine per centum, be, and the same is hereby remitted and released,
upon the prompt and punctual payment of the full amount
of said claims, together with the legal interest thereon, at the
rate of six per centum, per annum, and the costs and charges
of the suits prosecuted for the recovery of the same, at or before
the expiration of the time above stipulated; any law to the contrary
notwithstanding.

                                            No. 38.

    Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the senators
who represent this state in congress be requested to bring
before the general government without delay, the claim of the
state for interest upon loans contracted by her for the prosecution
of the late war, in the mode that may be deemed most
expedient, and that the representatives in congress from this
state, be requested to assist in prosecuting said claim to a successful
termination.
     Resolved, That his excellency the governor be requested to
correspond with said senators on the subject of the foregoing
resolution, and cause the documents necessary to sustain the
state's claim for interest to be forwarded to them, and to transmit
to each of them, and to each of our representatives in congress,
copies of the foregoing report and resolutions.
