Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
with amendments section 2, of Act of 1890, chapter
1202, to appropriate a sum of money to pay for land
that may be required for thir extension of the Mary-
land Penitentiary and i'or the erection of necessary
buildings thereon,
With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out in section 2, line 9, the words "one hun-
dred thousand" and insert in lien thereof the words
"fifty thousand."
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
And favorably,
Ordered, That in consequence of the unusual amount
of printing imposed upon the State Printers by reason
of having to include the assessment bill in the journal
of March 18th, they be allowed $50 extra compensa-
tion,
Which was read and adopted.
Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay Mary E. Metz, of Baltimore county, to
compensate her for damages siistained by loss of busi-
ness by reason of the erection of the Maryland Hospi-
tal for the Insane,
With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out in the title all after the word "Act"
down to the word "damages," and insert as follows :
"To authorize and empower Mary E. Metz, of Balti-
more county, to bring suit against the State of Mary-
land for."
After the word "that," in line 1 of section 1, strike
out all down to the end of said section 1 and insert as
follows:
"Mary E. Metz, be and she is hereby authorized and
empowered to bring suit against the State of Mary-
land in any court of the said State of competent juris-
diction, for the recovery of a sum of money claimed
by the said Mary E. Metz to be equitably due her on
account of the damage done to her property by said
State by reason of the building of Maryland Hospital
