Article 3, of the Constitution of Maryland, title
"Legislative Department."
Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Amendments to the Constitution.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Mr. Hayes, from the Committee on Finance, report-
ed favorably, the following bills :
Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to erect a monument to mark the grave of
General William Smallwood, in Charles county, Mary-
land.
Senate bill entitled an Act authorizing and direct-
ing the return of certain moneys to William W. Evans
and William F. Barns, of Somerset county, paid as
fines for violation of an Act of Assembly that had
been repealed.
Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to reimburse the Commissioners appointed to
erect upon the battle field of Gettysburg monuments
to mark the positions occupied by the Maryland com-
mands that participated in said battle the amount ex-
pended by them in the prosecution of the work as-
signed them over and above the amount appropriated
therefor.
Seriate bill entitled an Act to repeal and amend
section 49, of Article 25, of the Code of Public
General Laws of the State of Maryland, sub-title
"Draining Lands."
Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money ' o pay the claims of C. C. Savage, A. S. Abell
& Co., Charles C. Fulton & Co., Issac Frieden-wald,
The Herald Publishing Co., The Daily News Associa-
tion, F. Raine, Herbert F. Moore and Otto Sutro for
work and labor done and material furnished and ser-
vices rendered to the "Leonard Calvert Monument
Committee,"
Which were severally read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed far a third reading.
