Mr. Brown, from a Select Committee, reported fav-
orably,
House bill entitled an Act to carry into effect sec-
tion 1, of Article 7, of the Constitution of this State,
so far as the same relates to Baltimore county, and to
repeal section 31, of Article 3, of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Baltimore County," sub-title
"County Commissioners," and to re-enact the same
with amendments.
With the following proposed amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out all of "section 31," and insert in lieu
theereof the following:
"Section 31. There shall be three County Commis-
sioners for Baltimore county, who shall hold office for
the term of six years, except as hereinafter provided;
and of the three County Commissioners elected to
office in the year 1891, to wit: James Rittenhouse
shall hold office for the term of six years, and two, to
wit, Robert Magruder and August Weis, shall each
hold for the term of four years; and at the general
election to be held next preceding the end of the term
of said two last mentioned commissioners, there shall
be elected two County Commissioners, one to hold
office for the term of four years, and one for the term
of six years; and thereafter there shall be elected one
new commissioner every two years; and any person
elected to the office of County Commissioner shall be
ineligible for two successive terms; they shall each re-
ceive an annual salary of one thousand dollars exclu-
sive of mileage, payable monthly by the Treasurer of
said county; and they are required to meet for the
transaction of public business at their office at Towson,
on Tuesday and Wednesday of each week, and daily
from the first Tuesday in March in each year until
the annual levy is made."
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.
