Which were read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Finance,
Mr. Hayes presented the following Joint Resolution:

JOINT RESOLUTION

Requesting the Governor to issue a Commission to
Hon. Arthur P. Gorman.

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That his Excellency, the Governor of Maryland,
be and he is hereby requested to issue a commission,
in the usual form, to the Honorable Arthur P. Gor-
man, as Senator-elect, to represent this State in the
Congress of the United States for the term of six
years from the 4th day of March, 1893.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Federal Relations.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.

Mr. Evans, from the Committee on Printing, re-
ported favorably,

Ordered, That 500 copies of the inaugural address
of the Governor be printed for the use of the Senate.

Which was considered, and

On motion by Mr. Posey, referred to the Com-
mittee on Finance.

Mr. Brown, from the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings, reported favorably the following bills:

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of
the American Casualty Insurance Company of Balti-
more city, as to the number and qualification of the
directors.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re enact
with amendments, sections 139 to 141 inclusive, of
Article 27, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Health, Hours
of Labor of Children. "

Which were read the second time, and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.

JOINT CONVENTION.

The hour of 12 M. having arrived, the Senate pro-
ceeded to the Hall of the House of Delegates, as had
