been previously agreed upon, for the purpose of con-
vening in Joint Assembly with that Body for the
election of United States Senators.

The Senators, accompanied by their Secretary, hav-
ing been seated in the Hall of the House of Dele-
gates,

The Secretary of the Senate called the roll of the
Senators.

The Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates called
the roll of the Members of the House of Delegates.

The Secretary of the Senate then proceeded to read
from the Journal of the Senate, the proceedings and
result of the election had in that Body for United
States Senators on the previous day.

After which.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates read from the
Journal of the House, the proceedings and result of
election for United States Senators had in that Body
upon the previous day.

Whereupon,

It appearing that the Hon. Arthur P. Gorman had
received a majority of all the votes cast in each House
for Senator in Congress.

The Speaker of the House of Delegates, as chairman
of the Joint Convention, declared that the Hon.
Arthur P. Gorman had been elected Senator from
Maryland in the Congress of the United States for the
period of six years, from and after the 4th day of
March, 1893.

It also appeared that no person had received a ma-
jority of all the votes cast in both Houses for Senator
in Congress, to fill the unexpired term of Hon. Eph-
raim K. Wilson, deceased.

The Speaker of the House of Delegates, as Chair-
man of the Joint Convention, declared that no person
had been elected Senator from Maryland in the Con-
gress of the United States to fill the unexpired term
of Hon. Ephraim K. Wilson, deceased.

Whereupon,

The Joint Assembly proceeded to such election.

The Secretary of the Senate called the roll of the
Senate.
