INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTIONS.
Mr. Hayes presented the following Joint Resolutions:
JOINT RESOLUTION

Authorizing the destruction of the bonds of the
Exchange Loan of 1889, acquired by the exchange of
the preferred stock of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-
road Company, as authorized by Article 12, section 3,
of the Constitution.

Whereas, the Board of Public Works, by virtue of
authority contained in Article 12. section 3, of the
Constitution of the State of Maryland, did exchange
at 1. 30 the State's interest as stockholder and credi-
tor in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company,
amounting to $968, 615. 70 of the preferred stock at its
face value, paying 6 per cent, and cash to the amount
of 77. 69 for $1, 242, 300. 00 of the bonds of the Exchange
Loan of 1889, and did cause the same to be credited to
a sinking fund for said loan; and it is eminently right
and proper that said bonds should be destroyed and
the debt of the State lessened to the amount of same.
