With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out the word "section" before the figure
"657. " in fifth line of. section 1.

Also, insert the words "seven dollars" before the,
mark "$, " in sixth line of section 1.

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.

And unfavorably,

House bill entitled an Act t"o repeal sections 305,
306, 307, 308 and 309, of Article 4, of the Public Local
Laws of the State of Maryland, title "City of Balti-
more, " sub-title "Fines and Forfeitures, " and re-
enact section 305 with amendments.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Waters, from a Select Committee, reported fa-
vorably the following bills:

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize and require
the re-payment to James E. Dashiell, a citizen of
Somerset county, of a certain fine illegally imposed
upon him by William H. Groscup, a Justice of the
Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Somerset
county.

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize and require
the County Commissioners of Somerset county to levy
for and pay to the Judges of the Orphans' Court of
Somerset county the same mileage as is now allowed
to the County Commissioners by the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland.

Which were read the second time, and ordered to
fee engrossed for a third reading.

BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS—THIRD READING.
Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
sections 1 and 2, Article 1874, chapter 282.

Was read the third time, and failed for want of a
constitutional majority by yeas and nays, as follows:
