By Mr. Toadvin,

Senate bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor
and Council of Salisbury, in Wicomico county, to
borrow money for the erection of a market house.

Which was read the first time, and referred to
Messrs. Toadvin, Austin and Smith.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.

Mr. Hayes, from the Committee on Finance, re-
ported unfavorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to create free scholar-
ships in the Baltimore Normal Training School.

Which was adopted.

REPORTS OF SELECT COMMITTEES.

Mr. Hayes, from a Select Committee, reported fav-
orably, the following bills:

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore to appropriate a sum of
money, not to exceed ten thousand dollars, to the erec-
tion of a monument in the said city of Baltimore to
the memory of Maryland patriots and soldiers of the
war of the American Revolution.

Senate bill entitled an Act authorizing and empow-
ering the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Baltimore city
to arrange all the cases in his custody in numerical
and chronological order, providing for an extension
and improvement of the present system of indexing,
and for the preservation and renewal of the chancery
records, dockets and index as in his office.

Which were read the second time, and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore to issue the stock of
said corporation to an amount not exceeding six mil-
lions of dollars for building a court house, for the
opening, widening, repairing and paving of streets,
the construction of sewers, bridges, &c., of said city.

Which was read the second time.

House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 657, of
Article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"City of Baltimore, " sub-title "Licenses, " and to re-
enact the same with amendments.
