Senate bill entitled an Act to add a section to
Article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"City of Baltimore, " sub-title "Inspections and
Measures, Live Stock, " relating to the sale or lease of
the State cattle yards.
With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all in the bill after the word "therefore, "
at close of preamble, and insert in lieu thereof the-
following words:
Section 1. And be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That a new section, to be known as
section 506 A, be added to the Code of Public Local
Laws, title ''City of Baltimore, " sub-title "Inspections,.
Weights and Measures, " under subdivision "Live
Stock, " to follow section 506, relating to the sale of the
State cattle yards and scales, and to read as follows:
506 A. The Board of Public Works in the State is
authorized and empowered, after the proper public
notice inserted in two daily papers published in Bal-
timore city, for three weeks, to sell on such terms as
the said board may decide, to the highest responsible
purchaser, the State cattle yards and scales, including
all lands appurtenant to the same and owned by the
State, provided in their discretion an adequate price
is offered for the same, and if no adequate price is
offered for said property, the said board may at such
time or times as they may deem proper, advertise
again the said property for sale in the manner pro-
vided for in this Act, and the said board are hereby
authorized and directed to execute in due form the
necessary papers to convey to the purchaser the legal
title for said cattle yards and scales, and the Gov-
ernor is hereby empowered in his discretion to close
said scales, and the office or position of weight-master
shall cease.
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading,
Mr. Toadvin, from a majority of the Committee on
Finance, reported favorably the following bills:
Senate bill entitled an Act to reimburse the Visitors
of Washington College for the board and tuition of
W, T. Brown, a student from Somerset county.
