House bill entitled an Act to declare the sanction of
the General Assembly of Maryland to a devise con-
tained in the last will and testament of Harriet A.
Hayden, deceased.
Which were read the second time.
Senate bill entitled an Act to entitle the sheriff to
charge and receive one dollar for every arrest on war-
rant and return in criminal cases, and one dollar and
fifty cents for serving and returning attachments for
contempt of court.
Which was read the second time, and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.
Also, favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the exami-
nation of trust, guaranty, loan and fidelity companies.
With the following proposed amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amend the titling by adding the following words
thereto, at the end thereof, viz: And also to regulate
the conduct, of business and fix the liability of share-
holders in said companies.
Amend section 1 by inserting after the word "such, "
in the 12th line thereof, the words following, viz:
"Bonds and Mortgages. "
Amend section 4, by inserting after the word "and"
and before the word '"conformity, " the words follow-
ing, viz: "Require said corporation to act in. "
Amend section 5 by adding after the words "Bal-
timore City, " in the fourth line thereof, the words
following, viz: "Or the bonus of any county or muni-
cipal corporation of this State which shall be approved
by said Treasurer. "
Amend section 5, by striking out all after the word
"refunded, " in the 22d line thereof.
Amend section 10, by adding to the end thereof the
following words, viz: "Any corporation making the
reports and deposits herein provided for, shall not be
required to make any report to or submit to any ex-
amination by the Insurance Commissioner. "
Amend by striking out section 11, and insert in lieu
thereof the following, viz: "Each stockholder shall
be liable to the depositors and creditors of any such
corporation for double the amount of stock at the par
