duly elected Governor for the term as prescribed by
the provisions of the Constitution, Article 2, Section 1.

At 2. 25 P. M., the Senators returned to the Senate.

Messrs. Toadvin and Coffin, from the committee ap-
pointed to wait upon the Governor and inform him of
the organization of the two Houses of the General As-
sembly, appeared at the bar of the Senate and reported
that they had performed the duty assigned them, and
that the Governor would send a communication to the
Senate at once

The Hon. Edward W. LeCompte, Secretary of State,
appeared and delivered the biennial message of the
Governor to the Legislature.

to investigate the accounts of Stevenson Archer, late
Treasurer of Maryland.

Ordered, That a Select Committee of three mem-
bers be appointed by the President, to whom shall be
referred the Message of the Governor, for the purpose
of distributing the various subjects therein treated to
appropriate committees.
